| 500 ## - GENERAL NOTE | |
| General note | As the world is advancing to the future technologies, more and more reliance is being done on
the different power generating aspects as no innovation is complete without power. Different
ways of generating power have been in operation and a lot of improvements are being done in
the field. Along with these improvements, new ways of generating power are being found. One
of these methods is energy harvesting through ocean waves using two tandem arranged
cylinders, with one of the cylinders that is vibrating under the influence of the waves. A
piezoelectric flag shall be placed in the back of this vibrating cylinder and energy shall be
harvested with the help of it. Such kind of power generating methods have been adopted in the
past but with the help of two cylinders and those too in tandem arrangement and by changing
three parameters i.e., variable flow speed and distance between the cylinders and distance
between vibratory cylinder and the eel have not been used before.
World is moving towards non- renewable energy sources as the non-renewable energy
sources are depleting at high rate and their production cost is also high. Non-Renewable energy
sources are also the main cause of pollution causing irreversible effects on the nature.
Renewable energy sources are the only solution to such problems which will become huge
problem in the coming years for whole humanity.
Lot of work is being done in order to harvest energy with the help of the ocean waves. The
main phenomenon behind the extraction of the energy is vibration. We will be studying
vibration and will be looking its effect on the power that is being generated. Vibration can not
only be helpful but disastrous in many cases when its frequency gets equal to the natural
frequency, a phenomenon known as Resonance. But without avoiding it these set of vibrations
can be beneficial in knowing its effect of energy that is being harvested.
This is a unique approach in the field of energy harvesting and creates innovations in the
technological fields. Many new ideas can be generated from this experimental setup. |
