The aim of this work is to fabricate Poly-ether-ether ketone (PEEK) based matrix composite with eggshell powdered filler with 5 wt. %, 10 wt. %, and 15 wt. %. Further modified the surface properties via coating chitosan to enhance the surface hardness, mechanical and antibacterial properties. The incorporation of filler content and chitosan coating is verified by structural characterization using XRF, FTIR, SEM, and EDX, confirming the dispersion of filler in the PEEK matrix. Furthermore, the average contact angle measurements confirm the improved surface wettability in coated composites. The increasing trend in hardness and compression testing up to 10 wt.% filler concentration, followed by a slight decrease at 15 wt.%, indicates the effect of higher loading and agglomeration of particles on mechanical strength. Chitosan coating showed promising improved antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus in antibacterial testing, with a visible increase in inhibition zone with increasing eggshell concentration. Overall, the outcomes depicted that the composite based on polymeric PEEK matrix reinforce with eggshell and chitosan coating can effectively enhance the surface properties, mechanical performance, and antibacterial behavior of composites, making them viable replacement of dental implant UR - http://10.250.8.41:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/57636 ER -
