, The production of glass packaging requires a lot of energy and resources, and as the world's
population rises, particularly in emerging nations, so does the demand for glass packaging.
Although developing nations are also suffering from the effects of climate change, there is
relatively little study on environmental impact assessment and analysis, notably the environmental
impacts brought on by the activities related to glass manufacturing. This work conducted a
thorough life cycle assessment (LCA) for the production of glass packaging in Pakistan in order
to close this research gap of quantification of the environmental impacts of glass packaging
production. The LCA was carried out for three distinct types of glass packaging solutions (amber,
flint, and green), considering 1-ton of glass as the functional unit. The creation of several scenarios
allowed for the analysis of the effects and the generation of ideas for ways to lessen the negative
effects of glass manufacture on the environment. The study's methodology used a cradle-to-gate
approach. From the perspective of the life cycle inventory, the main data were gathered from a
renowned glass industry situated in one of Pakistan's designated industrial zones, and the
secondary data were obtained from the Ecoinvent database. Environmental impacts were measured
at midpoint and endpoint levels utilizing the ReCiPe 2016 approach and SimaPro V 9.2 as the
software tool. Results indicated that the extraction and processing of raw material had worse
impacts on the environment. At plant level the consumption of natural gas for the melting purposes
and electricity consumed from national grid had highest impacts on the environment. The
comparison of three packaging solutions indicated that the production of green glass was more
harmful to the environment, followed by the production of amber glass and flint glass came out to
be more environmentally friendly among the three packaging solutions. The alternative scenarios
were generated by changing the energy-mix and the cullet ratios and the results were compared
with the baseline scenarios for different midpoint and endpoint impact categories. The alternative
scenarios for the energy mix were also compared for different kinds of emissions to air especially
the greenhouse gas emissions. The report also identified a number of significant implications. This
study may serve as a guide for future research on the environmental impact of the glass packaging
industry, particularly in Pakistan and other developing nations. In this sense, developing nations
would work toward net-zero emissions and sustainable development goals

, Ischemic stroke remains the leading cause of illness and second leading cause of death
worldwide. Previous research has shown that galantamine has neuroprotective properties,
reducing neuronal death and damage in neurodegenerative conditions and improving cognitive
function in Alzheimer's disease patients. The investigation looked into the possible
mechanisms by which this medication could reduce cell death. Wistar rats were subjected to a
temporary 30-minute occlusion of the right middle cerebral artery (MCA) and given an oral
dose of 5mg/kg for three weeks. After 18 days of surgery, behavioral assessments were carried
out. Galantamine enhanced grip strength, motor function, and muscle strength in rats. Spatial
memory and object recognition examinations revealed cognitive improvements, thus indicating
enhanced cognitive abilities and memory retention. Moreover, rats subjected to galantamine
treatment displayed increased sociability and heightened locomotor activity during social
interaction and open-field assessments. Molecular analysis of galantamine treatment in rats
showed an upregulation of SOD2 expression, suggesting enhanced antioxidant defense, and a
downregulation of TLR4 expression, suggesting a reduction in neuroinflammation, supporting
the anti-inflammatory properties of galantamine. The histological analysis done with H&E
staining of brain tissue revealed enhanced tissue morphology in the galantamine-treated group,
signifying the neuroprotective effects of galantamine. The reduction in neuronal damage,
edema, and inflammatory cell infiltration further supported this observation. The results
demonstrate that galantamine, potentially through the preservation of a functional cholinergic
system, mitigated the impairments caused by stroke in a basic learning and memory test by
decreasing cellular death.

, Humans in the modern systems not only interact with other humans but also have to
interact with intelligent machines, robots in form of cyber physical systems to collaborate in
order to carry out different tasks in real working environment. The modern Industrial system
comprises of humans, machines, and cyber systems with a collective aim of optimized
industrial manufacturing objectives, human factors, and ergonomics goals. Different macrohuman factors are considered while designing and formulating human work safety of such
systems and one of the important neuroergonomic factors in is the Cognitive and Mental
Workload (C-MWL). The mental workload (MWL) in the human’s brain is measured with
difference non-invasive neuroimaging techniques. Most of the cognitive load measuring
methods either require massive system protocols like fMRI (functional magnetic resonance
imagining), positron-emission tomography (PET) or strict human anatomical movements
restrictions like electroencephalogram (EEG) and magnetoencephalography (MEG). To
address these limitations, fNIRS (functional Near infrared Spectroscopy) is used in this
research to measure the hemodynamic changes in the human brain’s tissues as a measure of
the brain activity.
The brain’s hemodynamic signals are measured using a light weight portable fNIRS
system (P-fNIRSSyst) that is designed to measure relative change in concentration of
chromophores (oxy and deoxy hemoglobin) in brain tissues. In this study a novel variant of
MBLL (Modified Beer-lambert Law) is designed by keeping the previous intensity value as a
reference by taking the average from initial four seconds activity stimuli in optical density. The
four second stimuli average in novel and important in calculation the changes in concentration
of chromophores. This novel variant of MBLL is Fixed Value - Modified Beer-lambert Law
(FV-MBLL). In this research, MWL is measured and classified in different real time working
environments. The two-state cognitive load is measured with fNIRS system and classified
using FV-MBLL using machine learning techniques like k-nearest neighbors (k-NN), support
vector machines (SVM), and artificial neural networks (ANN). The classification accuracies
of FV-MBLL are better than MBLL. The research further explores the classification
capabilities of deep neural networks (DNN) such as convolutional neural network s (CNN) and
Long short-term memory (LSTM) for the first time in assessment and classification of four-
iv
state MWL. The classification accuracies of LSTM outperform not only ML algorithms (SVM,
KNN and ANN) but CNN as well in classification of multi-state MWL. The research
experimental validation is performed using the accuracies with MWL that are further utilized
in neurorehabilitation as neurofeedback to operate bionic systems using Brain Machine
Interface (BMI).

, Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease leading to cognitive
impairment and memory loss. The presence of amyloid ß deposition and neurofibrillary tangles
remain the neuropathologic criteria for AD diagnosis. The BBB which is necessary for proper
neuronal activity prevents solutes from the bloodstream getting into the brain. Unfortunately,
there is no effective therapy for the treatment of AD due to low drug potency and various drug
delivery issues, such as limited bioavailability and the blood-brain barrier's obstructions.
Recently nanotechnology has demonstrated encouraging advancements in the treatment of AD.
Many different types of nano-carriers have been modified to provide effective new therapeutic
approaches. This study investigated therapeutic effect of Rutin and compared them with those
of Rutin-bound nanoparticles, NCDs-Rutin and CDs-Rutin in AD rat model. AD was induced
in Wistar Han rats using AlCl3 and D-galactose. The rats were then treated with Rutin and
Rutin-bound nanoparticles and the effects were assessed using different parameters. Behavior
assessment showed that NCDs-Rutin gave significant results in MWM, Y-maze and NOR test,
while CDs-Rutin exhibited better result in open field test. Histological analysis using H & E
staining revealed that NCDs-Rutin group prevented brain tissue better than CDs-Rutin and
Rutin group, however, Rutin group had more effective amyloid plaque reduction in ThT
staining. Moreover, molecular analysis of treatment groups showed an upregulation of SOD2
expression, among them NCDs-Rutin and Rutin group showed significant results suggesting
enhanced antioxidant defense. While, CDs-Rutin group showed significant reduction in TLR4
expression, suggesting a reduced neuroinflammation. Proteomic analysis through SDS-PAGE
indicated differences protein expression across the groups. The Rutin-bound nanoparticles significantly outperformed Rutin in terms of efficacy, most likely as a result of their focused
administration and increased bioavailability.

, Depression is a prevalent neuropsychiatric disorder characterized by mood disturbances, cognitive
impairment, and behavioral deficits. While pharmacological treatments such as Fluoxetine are
widely used, they often represent limitations including delayed onset of action and side effects,
highlighting the need for alternative, non-invasive therapeutic strategies. One promising approach
is neuromodulation through gamma entrainment using auditory stimulation, aimed at restoring
disrupted neuronal synchronization. This study evaluates the effects of 40 Hz sound stimulation
compared to fluoxetine in a chronic restraint stress-induced mouse model of depression,
hypothesizing that sound therapy will yield superior recovery outcomes. Mice were divided into
control, depressed, fluoxetine-treated, and sound stimulation-treated groups. Behavioral
assessments, including the Tail Suspension Test, Forced Swim Test, Social Interaction Test,
Sucrose Preference Test, Open Field Test, and Light-Dark Box Test, revealed that 40 Hz sound
therapy significantly alleviated depressive-like behaviors, often outperforming fluoxetine.
Histopathological analysis focused on the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex showed that sound
stimulation preventing neuronal loss and parvalbumin-expressing interneurons, which are crucial
for inhibitory circuit function and gamma oscillatory activity. Molecular evaluation through qPCR
for pavlb and brain-derived neurotrophic factor; BDNF supported these findings, displaying
increased expression levels indicating enhanced interneuron integrity and neuroplasticity. This
neuromodulatory treatment encourages the molecular and functional repair of brain circuitry
implicated in depression. The findings demonstrated 40 Hz sound entrainment's ability to change
brain oscillations and ameliorate cellular and behavioral deficiencies linked to depression,
indicating that it may be a novel supplement or substitute for traditional antidepressant treatments.

, Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most prevalent musculoskeletal disorders worldwide,
with diagnosis often relying on subjective evaluation rather than objective physiological
measures. This thesis introduces a data-driven framework for quantitative assessment of
LBP using high-density surface electromyography (HD-sEMG). As a non-invasive
technique, HD-sEMG provides insight into spinal neuromuscular behavior, enabling
spatial and temporal characterization of muscle activity patterns associated with
dysfunction. The study recruited 39 participants, divided into three groups that are healthy,
sub-clinical, and LBP based on chiropractic evaluation. In the first study, machine learning
classifiers including Support Vector Machine (SVM), eXtreme Gradient Boosting
(XGBoost), and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) were trained on time and frequencydomain features to discriminate between groups. The SVM model achieved the highest
accuracy, effectively distinguishing subtle neuromuscular differences between healthy and
dysfunctional subjects. In the second study, a regression-based framework was developed
to predict vertebral joint dysfunction scores (C1-Sacral) derived from chiropractic
assessment. ANN and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models were trained under a
CORAL (Consistent Rank Logits) ordinal regression framework, preserving the ordinal
nature of dysfunction severity. The ANN model demonstrated superior predictive
performance, capturing non-linear relationships between HD-sEMG activity and graded
dysfunction levels. Overall, this research bridges the gap between clinical assessment and
computational diagnostics, showing that HD-sEMG signatures can objectively quantify
spinal dysfunction and support data-driven LBP diagnosis. The proposed framework
establishes a foundation for personalized rehabilitation, automated dysfunction mapping,
and AI-assisted musculoskeletal diagnostics, advancing the integration of biomedical
signal processing with clinical neurophysiology.
