By Tariq, Huraira. . 67p. , One of the serious challenges in the treatment of infectious diseases is the presence of bacterial infections in subcutaneous wound tissue. Staphylococcus epidermidis (S. epidermidis) and Propionibacterium acne (P. acne) are resistant bacterial strains that cause severe disease in humans when penetrating the deeper layer of skin. Antibacterial drugs with a nonspecific target have more difficulty in penetrating the deeper layer of infected skin. Broad spectrum antibiotics are best to treat the infection but are not commonly used because bacteria’s make resistance against them. To overcome these issues, a combined strategy of broad-spectrum antibacterial drug and nanoparticle was formulated for targeted delivery, enhanced penetration to the infection site specifically. The ciprofloxacin was entrapped in transethosomes and formulation was synthesized by using the cold method. Transethosomes are very small in size that can reach the deeper layer of skin to give potential effects. In the layers of skin, ciprofloxacin works by binding to the enzymes topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase and inhibit the DNA replication in bacteria. The antibacterial activity of ciprofloxacin loaded transethosomes against skin infections was assessed using Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acne and the method used was well diffusion method. The characterization of ciprofloxacin loaded transethosomes was done through, zeta potential, particle size evaluation, and drug release efficiency. Loaded transethosomes displayed substantially have more potential effect than ciprofloxacin alone. The in-vitro studies show that ciprofloxacin loaded transethosomes boost the antibacterial activity of ciprofloxacin against gram positive. 30cm.

Liposomal Formulation of Lapatinib for the Treatment of Breast Cancer /

Lapatinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, modifies the cellular pathways and halts cell proliferation. The focus of this study includes the distribution of the drug to the tumor site in high amount and boost the efficiency of Lapatinib-loaded liposomes as a controlled drug delivery system against breast cancer. The synthesis of liposomes was followed by drug loading. The cargo was characterized under XRD, FTIR, SEM, EDX, and zeta analysis techniques. The overall findings demonstrated that the Liposomal formulation of Lapatinib has a high potential for sustained release of the drug for cancer therapy. As the successfully synthesized Lapatinibliposomes were stable and exhibited increased in vitro anticancer activity as compared to free Lapatinib. Our study demonstrates that the combination of Lapatinib with liposomes improves the drug's long-term viability, effectiveness, and active targeting as a potential targeted therapeutic molecule for breast cancer treatment. 3D Neural Network for Detection of ACL Injury in Knee MRI Scans /

For the past few decades, computer aided diagnosis has significantly improved due to the development of better architecture used for the diagnosis. Knee injury diagnosis using deep learning techniques is highly popular due its high detection rate and is highly localized. Many state-of-the-art-deep learning models have been used for the detection of abnormalities, meniscus tear and ACL tears in Knee MRI scans. These models include RESNET, Google-Net, VGG19 and VGG16, Alex-Net and many other, all giving significant results. In this study we used a custom 3D CNN model which is light in weight. For training we are using two datasets, one provided by Stanford ML group and the other form Hospital in Croatia. We combined the two dataset and split it into 80-20 ration (80% of the data used for training and remaining for testing purposes). Both the dataset has extreme class imbalance, so we used data augmentation and class weights to rectify its effect on the training process. Further the voxel intensities for the two datasets were different (one dataset was in 8-bit format and the second was in 12-bit format), so we normalized the intensity values using mathematical formulas. For contrast, we performed adaptive histogram equalization Average accuracy and AUC achieved by our model on training set is 97.6 and 99.3 respectively, during 5-fold cross validation. 30cm.

By Asgher,Umer . . 172p. , Humans in the modern systems not only interact with other humans but also have to interact with intelligent machines, robots in form of cyber physical systems to collaborate in order to carry out different tasks in real working environment. The modern Industrial system comprises of humans, machines, and cyber systems with a collective aim of optimized industrial manufacturing objectives, human factors, and ergonomics goals. Different macrohuman factors are considered while designing and formulating human work safety of such systems and one of the important neuroergonomic factors in is the Cognitive and Mental Workload (C-MWL). The mental workload (MWL) in the human’s brain is measured with difference non-invasive neuroimaging techniques. Most of the cognitive load measuring methods either require massive system protocols like fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imagining), positron-emission tomography (PET) or strict human anatomical movements restrictions like electroencephalogram (EEG) and magnetoencephalography (MEG). To address these limitations, fNIRS (functional Near infrared Spectroscopy) is used in this research to measure the hemodynamic changes in the human brain’s tissues as a measure of the brain activity. The brain’s hemodynamic signals are measured using a light weight portable fNIRS system (P-fNIRSSyst) that is designed to measure relative change in concentration of chromophores (oxy and deoxy hemoglobin) in brain tissues. In this study a novel variant of MBLL (Modified Beer-lambert Law) is designed by keeping the previous intensity value as a reference by taking the average from initial four seconds activity stimuli in optical density. The four second stimuli average in novel and important in calculation the changes in concentration of chromophores. This novel variant of MBLL is Fixed Value - Modified Beer-lambert Law (FV-MBLL). In this research, MWL is measured and classified in different real time working environments. The two-state cognitive load is measured with fNIRS system and classified using FV-MBLL using machine learning techniques like k-nearest neighbors (k-NN), support vector machines (SVM), and artificial neural networks (ANN). The classification accuracies of FV-MBLL are better than MBLL. The research further explores the classification capabilities of deep neural networks (DNN) such as convolutional neural network s (CNN) and Long short-term memory (LSTM) for the first time in assessment and classification of four- iv state MWL. The classification accuracies of LSTM outperform not only ML algorithms (SVM, KNN and ANN) but CNN as well in classification of multi-state MWL. The research experimental validation is performed using the accuracies with MWL that are further utilized in neurorehabilitation as neurofeedback to operate bionic systems using Brain Machine Interface (BMI). 30cm.

This therapeutic system integrates cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO₂), metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and a chitosan-gelatin hydrogel platform to create a multifunctional wound dressing. CeO₂ nanoparticles provide strong antioxidant and antibacterial activity, MOFs enable controlled drug release and add antimicrobial properties, while the chitosan-gelatin hydrogel ensures biocompatibility, moisture retention, and accelerated tissue repair. Comprehensive characterization, including Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, UV-Vis, EDX analysis, and optical microscopy, confirmed successful synthesis, structural integrity, and the presence of desired functional groups. Biological assays demonstrated superior antibacterial and antibiofilm performance of the CeZn-Gel composite against E. coli and S. aureus, surpassing individual system components and controls. The integrated approach not only enhances wound healing outcomes but also reduces infection and inflammation, with significant potential for improving patient quality of life in chronic wound care.
